Whats the best package(s) to use to transfer DV video via firewire and
then author and burn to DVD ?
Also, what the best free packages to do the same thing ?

What is your budget for "best"?
How much experience do you have?
Is this for casual use or for commerece?

I'd look at Vegas movie studio. But the manual is not very good.
