Hi,
2 days ago when i connected my DV Cam to the firewire port and captured
video, the "new hardware" icon came up and everything eas fine.
1 day ago the "New hardware" icon did not show up and capture was still
possible.
Today there is no icon and any capture software i use says that IEEE
1394 driver is not available.
The Card is OHCI Compliant and shows as working properly under device
manager.
The cable seems to be fine since the camera viewfinder (Sony HC40)
shows a "DV In" icon.
What is happening ? Can anybody help ?

Best Regards

I would remove it from the device manager and have it install again. Have
you installed anything since??

Hi Dave
Yes, I tries uninstalled and re-installed the 1394 driver from the
device manager. ... Nothing!
I checked Direct X (9 c) .. no problem
I reinstalled Premiere ... same problem (no capture)
Last thing left .. .reinstall Win2000 ... which takes a whole day and i
am soo loathe to do unless there is no other option left.
What shall i do next ?
Thanks and Best Regards

Try uninstalling it and then reboot without the camera attached. I know
that you uninstalled and reinstalled, but try letting the OS find it on
a reboot. If this still does not work see if any other process is using
the firewire port. You may have selected some automatic action when the
camera is detected on the firewire.

Are you sure you have the camera on before you start your capture app? There
are many apps that need things done in this order.

Also, reboot your computer with the camcorder attached and on.

These are two easy steps to try before getting out the hammer.
