I have recently installed and uninstalled (cos it was crap) a security program which seems to have removed my drives from the network as only the printer icon shows up in netwrok neighborhood. I have tried to reset them as file sharing by right-clicking on them in the 'My Computer' screen but the file and print sharing box does not appear - any advice????

You might have to add "File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Networks"
To do this, right click Network Neighborhood, click Add and then go to Services and then Microsoft. It should be listed there.
Add it, and then reboot and the Sharing tab should be back when you right-click your drives in My Computer.

Now did you have a working network prior to installing the "crap" security program? I use Zonealarm and you must set up the network so they allow each other to see each other. If not it will appear that there is no network. Sounds like it is doing it's job. BUT FIRST GET A WORKING NETWORK!!!.
