Hello,

I am looking for some software that will let me edit out commercials in Divx
encoded AVI files (from a Plextor ConvertX 402) without having to re-encode
the video after cutting out the commercials. Free would be nice but
commercial is ok too. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

John

I was wondering that about this device, does it come with any editing
utilities at all? I think you may be of luck as far as a
cutter/splitter that doens't re-encode, I don't remember seeing anything
that can do that with Divx.

How about virtualdub, you cut out the pieces you want, then glue them together
again with some utility.
In Linux there are
avidump
aviindex
avisplit
avisync
avifix
avimerge
avisplit2
all part of transcode
There are lots of AVI editors on the net, also for windows.

EZ Video Splitter (payware, but inexpensive).
