Are the Dell PocketPCs loud enough to listen to MP3s without earphones, at
say arm's length away?

There are 3 major Dell Axim models (X5, X3i, and X30). Which one are you
referring to? I will guess that there may be slight speaker differences
between some of the models.

In general, most Pocket PCs I have tried have speakers loud enough to hear
audio content in general. But, the sound quality is that of decades old AM
handheld radios. So, don't expect much.
