We are looking for people to watch the segments and give us feedback
for the Five Minute Video Series http://www.hotftv.net. The project
started off as an attempt to compress the energy of a super talkative
guy. I put a large darkroom timer next to his seat, set it to 5 minutes
and said "Vince, hit the start button, when the buzzer goes off, I stop
recording."
Once others saw Vince's video, they started asking me "Can I do 5
minutes, too?"
There is something about that timer that attracts people. Like, "Oh,
hell, 5 minutes? I could easily do that!"
Some people prepare at great length, others ramble with no preparation,
just stream of consciousness. One woman just retells her dreams. Some
people talk to the camera like a therapist, others give political rants
and others just tell stories from their lives.

This project is starting to resemble a program started by the New Deal
during the Great Depression called "The Oral History Project". At other
times it reminds me of one of the films of Errol Morris.

In addition to being on public access TV, I am putting out a DVD with
the 22 best 5 minute segments and distributing it on the internet. The
nominees to the DVD and the reviews that nominated them are posted at
at the Series website http://www.hotftv.net.

We would like to find people to help us select which segments should be
nominated to the DVD. Each week 7 -8 new segments are posted and can we
watched or downloaded from the website.
