There was a known issue with Cat4.3, and their problem database says that it's solved in Catalyst4.4. However the description of the problem is different than what you describe.

Slow the ram or gpu down on your overclocked video card... that was my problem and my solution... if you are not overclocking, ya, try the other drivers...

BTW, I went from 3.7 to 4.3 last night because I read 4.3 worked well with NWN, but now FarCry is, indeed, messed up... I want to bed before trying to get rid of the distortion by changing settings... but if it is a 4.3 problem, that is good to know...
I had this problem on my overclocked Geforce 4 Ti4200. Even when every other game was stable at 300/600 On FarCry I would get those graphical errors after about 30 minutes of playing. In the end I put the card back down to default speeds and it worked fine.

I had the *exact* same problem with my first R9700Pro in any 3D game (<A HREF="http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=381844#381844" target="_new">thread</A> ). Hercules RMAd the card and the replacement is fine - most likely thought for the cause from the posters here at Tom's was long term heat damage. Of course, if you're o/c then try it at default first.
I'm having a similar problem. Also, at the same time the screen freaks out, I hear high pitched, garbled sounds. I had the 4.5's installed, but after several occurrences of the above I switched back to the 4.3's. I guess I'll try the 3.9's again for the hell of it. I never had a problem on my nForce 2 machine. Any ideas would be appreciated.
