No sound on VCD's

I posted this question a week or so ago but my newsreader had a problem so I
don't know whether people responded:

As the subject title states, I've been making VCD's but they have no sound
when I play them. Here are some details--

1) I'm using a JVC miniDV video camera
2) I'm using MovieMaker (bundled with PC) to edit my video
3) I'm using MyDVD (bundled with PC) to author the VCD
4) I haven't been dubbing sound with a mic; I just want the sound that's
recorded with the video
5) The sound plays fine when I'm playing it from my harddrive

Let me know if you need any other info. However, I'm thinking that with a
problem this glaring some of you may think of possible fixes. Thanks

Correction: I'm sure it doesn't matter, but I actually edited with ShowBiz,
not MovieMaker.

Oh :(

DV, once in the computer, is Avi.

Wait a minute. How do you get an mpeg from the Avi? Does MyDVD make
it? And, what kind of sound does your mpeg have?

I don't really know that I did get an mpeg from an Avi. If I did, I don't
really know how I did it, I suppose.

All I know is I'm following seemingly simple steps (hitting buttons like
"make video CD") on MyDVD and it creates a CD that has picture but no sound.

Assuming I'm listening to an mpeg when I view the video on my computer, the
sound I'm getting is the sound that the videocamera recorded.

Vcd is made from mpeg-1 video (at 352*240 resolution and 1150 kbps
bitrate) and mpeg audio, so MyDVD must have encoded your DV Avi as
mpeg, and then made the file structure of a Vcd from it.

I would try checking your Vcd with Avicodec, a program that tells you
what you really have in a clip. It shall tell you what kind of audio
you have ended up with. Perhaps it's not "mpeg audio", so you can hear
it on the computer, but not on a desktop DVD player.
