I need some general guidence on setting up a home network with RD.

Here's what I have now:
-Netgear Wireless Router
-Cable Modem
-Desktop Computer (XP)
-Work Laptop (W2K)
-pcmia wirless card (unused)

Here's what's happening.
My mother-in-law is coming so I'm turning our computer room into a guest
room. Consequently, I need to go mobile which means I need to expand my
wireless network to include a new home laptop (xp). This will be a basic
laptop with minimal frills. Additionally, I want to "retire" the old crt with
the desktop and turn it into a server that lives in a closet. With the new
laptop I want to access the old desktop since it has dvd/rom, cd/rw, usb
ports, and various software that is used occassionally (not to mention the
30GB of music). Additionally I want to access the printer wirelessly from the
laptop.

I think I need to do the following (please correct my thinking)
1. Get a wireless adapter for the desktop. I've seen some usb adapters from
Netgear.
2. Use my spare pcmia wireless card for the new laptop. Or would I be better
off buying a laptop with a built-in wireless card?
3. Set up the network for the work laptop, new laptop, and desktop. I think
XP will wizard me through this or is that a pipe dream?
3. Get the new laptop to control the desktop using RD. Not sure how to do
this?
4. Set up the printer for wirless access. I don't want to have to direct
connect to the router. I think I need a print server? Please advise.
5. Pray to the gods that all is goes well...:)

Any help on any of these questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Matt
