Programmable Remotes? Capturing Signals from Existing Remo..

Hi,

I've got my PC-based PVR running with a Hauppauge PVR-150 and, while I'm
still waffling a little, I think I'm settling on BeyondTV for software.
I've figured out that it's pretty easy to start Nero Showtime, send it to
full screen, and watch DVD's on this system, too.

But I'm missing the remote when I do this.

BeyondTV doesn't have a "Play DVD" option. I couldn't get SageTV's option
to work at all. I like Nero; I use it all the time on my PC's. Seems
natural. But not remote!

Is there some way to hook into, say, a Hauppauge remote? Both of the
packages above must have done Just That ... as they work (in very different
ways) with this remote.

I wrote Hauppauge offering to write something, or buy something if they
wrote it :). I then discovered an open source toolkit, but they depend on
serial-port-based devices and non-standard remotes.

I've got this Hauppauge remote on my new PVR, plugging into the PVR card.
I've got what preports to be an MS IR device on my HP MCE, this being a USB
device. The MCE machine CAN play DVD's, etc ... but that's my personal PC
and not hooked to my big TV :). Has anyone gotten these devices to
control "other things"? Wouldn't it be cool if some button opened up "My
Videos", and you could scroll around and pick one? Then control your DVD
player once it opened? I can think of other things.

I did some googling, but didn't really find anything that fit the bill.
What do you guys know, please? Thanks in advance,

Nick

I am not so MS windows oriented... but if you have a cellphone with wireless,
and the PC has wireless, you could use the cellphone as remote.
So cellphone as remote for everything...
Maybe you can program that?
Could make you some money too!
