I have a NEC 3520A DVD burner and a Lite-on CD burner. Also have Nero Ultra
6.6.06 and everything is working good. But when I install TMPGEnc DVD Author
v1.6 I get problems. I have yellow explanation points next to my two
burners. They have this message in device manager:
"A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver
may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)"
I have to uninstall TMPGenc DVD Authur and reboot to use my burners again.
Is there a known problem with Nero and TMPGEnc ???
Computer: WinXP pro with SP1, AMD2500, fx5200, 80gb HD, 512ram

I use Nero and TMPGdvd author 1.6 on 3 machines, no problems.
Try removing your drives from Device Manager and reboot. They should
re-install and work correctly.

I tried that, re-installing the drives, and it didn't work.
Here is TMPG's email response:

From what I was able to find out, it appears that there may be a software
conflict. When you have two or more DVD writing programs on the same
machine, there is a high probability that conflicts will arise (as it seems
to be in your case). This has to do with the Px engine, the software that
actually works with the DVD drive itself.
Our suggestion is to either use the DVD writing program that actually works
already, or if you really want to see how our software functions, we
recommend that you uninstall all of your DVD writing programs (including
ours), and then do a clean re-install of DVD Author (with the DVD writing
tool) alone to see how it works.
Also, as a side note, I noticed that your file system is FAT32. I bring this
up because of the fact that the maximum file size in FAT 32 is 4 GB. If you
are creating a DVD that uses all the space available on the disc, then there
may be a problem as the filesytem won't be able to handle a file size that
is over 4 GB in size. When using our DVD Authoring program, we recommend
that if you think you're file sizes are going to be that large (more than 4
GB), to change your filesystem over to NTFS. That will ensure that there are
no freezes or hangups.
