Like new Panasonic AG-1980P professional VHS/S-VHS editor in Westfield
NJ. $750 OBO.
I retired just a few years ago and, without doing any research,
decided I was going to make movies! At B&H in NYC I asked for a
professional quality SVHS editor and bought the AG-1980P. I unpacked
the unit, carefully placed it on the table, plugged in the power cord,
counted the buttons and controls on the front (aprx 50), glanced at
the manual, and immediately realized I had gotten myself into some hot
water. But, after some 6 weeks I did indeed manage to figure out how
to capture video from the camcorder onto the computer, do some
editing, and then record 40 minutes to the 1980P. (A major chore for
guy in his 70's with no technical background.) After just one more
short video, my career in movie making ended. Since then, the 1980P
has been sitting quietly on that table, covered to protect it from
dust. That cover has been removed absolutely no more than a dozen
times to make a copy of a video for my grandchildren.
The original box and everything which came in it (manuals, etc.) are
included.
My greatest fear in selling this unit is that it would be damaged in
shipping or an un-knowledgeable buyer will get the unit and somehow do
something to make it malfunction. This is why I am not putting it up
on Ebay. I would much prefer to sell it to someone in the area who
can come by and see that the unit is virtually new and works
flawlessly. I would even consider taking a short trip to meet the
buyer half way. Westfield NJ is 30 minutes south of the Holland
Tunnel. My email is (jerryrsnbg@hotmail.com). Remove the
parentheses, of course.
The description below is from a couple of sites:

even make bad tapes better. Built to last for years, the AG-1980 can
be used by itself or connected to an edit controller for use as an
editing system. It comes with full-field TBC, independent linear audio
