I am using WinTV2000 by Haupage for my Wintv tuner. The thing is it dosnt
have many options such as an auto timer for recording. I want to setup to
start and stop recording when I am away. Any other software to use for this?

SageTV, BeyondTV and a bunch of others. They cost but have free trials.
In fact, wintv2000 has an addon for scheduling recordings - iirc it's called
something like 'scheduler'. Have you looked in your wintv2000 dir? It's also
got Titantv for a guide. At least the wintv that came with my Hauppauge
pvr-250 tuner did. But wintv is unwieldy, with few bells and whistles.
I opted for SageTV after exploring the various options out there. Nex

Hauppauge has a Wintv scheduler download on their website. (free). It
does everything you're looking for.
Showshifter also has a scheduler with their software that can be
downloaded from the www.shspvr.com site. The free version can only be
used with the Hauppauge analogue Wintv cards.

I have 2 wintv pci cards.
The second card came with scheduler software but it's very basic, and it
won't work with my
first card (confirmed by info on Hauppauge site).
I have tried Cyberlink PowerVCR and found it very unstable.
I have tried the Showshifter demo and it seemed pretty good. It includes
timeslip.

I also tried this package, but didn't like it much. I evaluated it, plus
several others. I narrowed it down between Beyond TV and SageTV before
finally choosing Beyond TV. It was a tough choice, but it just seemed to
fit my needs better.
I just can't say if they work with the card in question. It would be worth
looking into, tho.
Hi i personally use Intervideo WINDVD RECORDER v5.0 platinum or Intervideo WINDVR v3.0 both allow me to record to hard disk with extra long play MP3 audio playback for extra compression and record direct to DVD. I can get nearly 4 hours on a DVD. Both programs allow time shifting with the greatest of ease (just hit the play button whilst viewing) Capture is great just press P. Problem may lay in the fact i use Composite in on my TV card and the option is not available in the software to select Composite input so i have to open up AMCAP.EXE supplied by Hauppauge with the preview pain switched off and then select AUX input on XP or Composite 2 on Vista. Be sure to open AMCAP before you open Intervideo WinDVD Recorder as the external inputs wont be available and will be greyed out sometimes not even seen!!!. Then keeping amcap open then proceed to open Intervideo WinDVD recorder. and the screen should display your external connection (mine is a sky + box so i dont bother to record to the sky + internal hard disk if i do i can easily record to DVD or Computer hard disk to edit etc. Seems complicated but its not once you have done it once. Lastly Im sure Intervideo got bought out by Coral so don't get alarmed if you get redirected to Coral s website. Good luck and happy viewing.
