Remote Desktop and VPN

Hi,
Sorry if my question is redundant, I've searched through the forum and
couldn't find a similar one.

1. I have set up a RD from one XP Pro to another XP Pro, it works, but if I
reboot the remote PC I am unable to log back in until someone actually
physically logs into the remote PC. How do I set it up so I am able to
remotely reboot the PC and then log back in with RD.

2. I am trying to set up a VPN. I have a simple LAN (peer-to-peer) and a
similar LAN on another site. I would like to see their Workgroup just like I
see mine. I've set up a VPN through the network setup wizard, i typed in the
IP of the remote router (WAN) as my connection, it tries to connect but times
out...
