Need Help Finding A Driver CD

Hey, everybody!

I recently got a new computer for capturing video and making
DVD's. It has an ATI Radeon 9200 video capture card. I've
always like ATI's stuff, so that's why I went with it.

Problem: it kept messing up the video if there was too much
white on the screen.

I downloaded ATI's own media center and it ran a diagnostic
check. It says it is missing the INF files for the drivers.

I'm guessing I need to find these files, but the computer
didn't come with an ATI install disc. Does anyone know
where I can find the CD or a copy of it for the ATI Radeon
9200 so I can get this working correctly?

the inf files should be packaged with the drivers.

Try a search on your hard drive if you have not already done so.

They are usually in the windows/system folder if installed.

Why do you think it is driver related ?

Hey, Ginchy!

Good guess, but no. I already called them, and they said
they don't give out the driver CD's seperately. The website
has the programs that come with it, but not (at least, not
as far as I can tell) the INF files.

Computers usually come with the discs needed for the installed cards
in some form.
What kind if computer is it (desktop or laptop),and what brand?
Did *any* discs come with the computer? Is one a setup disc?

The Radeon 9200 is supported by the drivers found at the following address.
You are looking for the Catalyst driver which is good for all ATI cards
under Windows XP.

If you want you can go back pretty far in their listing at the following
page:
http://www.atitech.com/support/drivers/winxp/radeonwdm-xp.html?type=xp&prodType=graphic&prod=productsXPdriver&submit.x=12&submit.y=9

If this link truncates go to http://www.atitech.com click the Driver link
and follow the trail.

You will need to run the entire setup and this will update your VGA card,
any system files and the ATI Control Panel, etc.

Hey, marks542004!

> Why do you think it is driver related ?

When I installed the programs I got off the ATI web site, it
included a diagnostic program to see if I met all the
requirements for the ATI card to work correctly. It pointed
out two things missing--DirectX 9 (considering the computer
is a Media Center build and less than a year old and came
with SP2, I'm surprised that wasn't on it already) and the
INF files. DirectX 9 was easy enough, but it still comes
back to the INF files.

Nope, no discs. Instead, I had to go and make the "one time
only" discs that XP grudgingly allows you to do.

It's a desktop, an HP Media Center m470n. I'm thinking of
just tossing Linux and Main Actor on it and being done with it.

I can't find a m470n on HP's site.
In any case, there are supposed to be discs with the system; I'd
contact HP again, and find out why yours didn't come with any.
I just bought (January) a new HP laptop, and got several discs with
it; I can't imagine they don't provide them with their desktops.
Call them and ask for them.
