At first I thought I had dirty heads, but after cleaning them with dry
cleaning tape, I still got reddish streaks, but now the whole LCD is reddish
and it record that also, anyone had any experience with that and what it
could be? I know that I should send it for repair to Sony, but I just was
curious on what caused this.

I'm sure you can ask the Sony technician when he/she repairs your
failing camcorder.

I'm guessing that the blue or green channel (I mean the internal
amplifier for the blue and/or green signal on the analog side) - or
both - was at first failing, leading to the streaks, and has now
failed, leading to the permanent red.

Possibly, the red channel is instead amplifying its signal too much,
but that would also be an electronic flaw.

But surely it's a problem that Sony should fix, and they could tell you
a correct answer - unlike my guesses :)

Are you still under warranty? I hope so...

HTH,
Gino

I have a PD 150 as well. I have called Sony Professional Products
support a few times and found them to be quite helpful. I'm not sure
if they would be able to solve your problem, but it's worth a try.

Otherwise, you'll probably have to take your camera to a repair shop
for commercial video. About $90 an hour 'round here. (Seattle)

Why would you use a shop other than Sony? (That's a question, not a
poiont of view)

The same reason that you would take your car to someplace other than a
dealership, I suppose: convenience and cost.

Broadcast video cameras and other equipment can represent a
investment in the tens of thoursands of dollars. Best to get it back
in service as quickly as possible. This is, of course, assuming the
item is out of warranty.

The place we've used here in Seattle is JW Tel-Tronics, located in
Bothell, WA. The broadcast stations use them.
