Hi all, Really sorry but this is another one of those Newbee Questions :-)
I have a small 3 computer network i use a standard ethernet switch to
connect the computers, this worked fine for file sharing and also Remote
Desctop connection. however i rcently got my self a Tablet Pc with wireless
capability so to make use of this i got rid of the standard swich and
replaced it with a Netgear cable/DSL wirless Router (mobel No MR814v2) this
had 4 ethernet conections and the wirless capability. File sharing is fine
but i can no longer use the remote connection :-(
I gather it is something to do with Port forwarding, but i am not sure how
this works or what ports to forward.
when i go to the port forwarding feature on the routers software, i am able
to add a custome service it asks me for
Service Name
Starting Port
Ending Port
Server IP Address
Any help you could give me with this proble would be greatly appreciated
!!!!! :-)

Hi,
Yep i have enabled Remote Desktop.
And the computer has user accounts with passwords.
The Winxp Firewall has an exception set for Remote Desktop (port 3389).
Would it matter that this pc is WinXp sp2 ?
This is also the pc that i have used to set up the router (although the port
forward is to a different machine).
Thanks Lots for your help !!!!!

So are you testing connection to this one particular PC over the local LAN or from a remote
location?
If its from a remote location check port forwarding on the router to verify the correct ports are
being forwarded to the correct static LAN IP.
If your testing on your local LAN are you calling the correct static local LAN IP?
