Never easy to clean the sensor itself.

First of all, does the dot show up only on LCD and not on the picture
viewed on PC? Or is it only the viewfinder? You can ignore the
little viewfinder, it has no effect on the picture quality. And if
the dot only shows up on the LCD viewer, your LCD panel probably have
a stuck pixel and can be ignored, it is usually not fixable.
If you have interchangeable lens, you should try taking that apart and
clean everything. But if you're like most of us with fixed lens,
taking the camera apart might make things worse. For one thing you
need to be in 100% dust free enviroment. And take it from me, taking
most camera apart is no easy job. I spent nearly 2 hours just to take
apart a Cybershot P-30 to fix the zoom motor With many mechanical
parts, keeping everything properly aligned is the biggest part of the
job on re-assembly.
If you're sure it shows up on pictures, use the dust and scratch
removal feature of many decent programs to get rid of it.
