We are trying to set up a wireless network for students to use at a
remote college campus. We are using a Cisco 1200 AP, and would like
the students to be able to connect to the network by entering only the
SSID. We would however like to make all traffic between the AP and
the clients be encrypted. We don't want the students to be required
to enter a 26 digit hex key to get online. We need to allow
connections from all wireless cards regardless of manufacturer with B
or G radios.
In the Windows XP wireless configuration there is a box that says "The
key is provided for me automatically". This is exactly what we'd like
to do. Offer WEP encryption (which I relized isn't as secure as it
used to be) without needing to give students any more than just an
SSID to connect.
