Hi,

I want to upgrade my system to a HTPC/PVR machine, hooked up to the TV
set.
I already have two WinTV Go's, so I'd really like to recycle those.
My question therefore is: what processor power do I need for capturing
from both of them at the same time (since they haven't got hardware
encoding)?
I'll probably capture in MPEG-4, like x-vid, and for having good
picture quality encode at 640x480, however please correct me if you
think it's worthwile changing such set-up.
I was thinking of two possibilities: the minimal/cheap setup (Gigabyte
GA-8TRS350MT + Celeron 2.8) or the top-of-the-bill (MSI RS480M2 + AMD
Athlon 64 3000 or higher). Both have integrated graphics and TV-out
for saving expansion slots and heat buildup from a possible AGP card.
If the cheaper setup can handle my needs, that's what I'll go for.
Otherwise it has to be the latter, or buying hardware encoding capable
capture cards I guess (and thus begging my wife for a bigger budget
:-O)...

Does anyone has experience with a set-up like this?

Any comments are welcome!
K

You could just sell the cards and get two PVR-150s for a lot less than
upgrading your whole system.

How are you going to record audio from 2 WinTV cards similtaneously? (they
feed into the sound card?)

The old ones do, but the new ones don't. I verified this with
Hauppauge.

Yeah, also thought of that; I'd probably put an extra sound card in...
