Having a problem with burning movies.Using a Pioneer DVR-108, latest
firmware, TY DVD-R or Maxell DVD+R blanks. Some burned with Nero 6, some
burned with DVD shrink, some burned with PreEl.
Approximately 1 1/2 hours into playback the movie freezes up, then quits
altogether. Sometimes with "Disk dirty or scratched" error.
Anyone have a solution to this problem?

Try different discs or burning at a slower speed. While a questionable
burn may work ok at the beginning and middle of a disc, the outside edge
is the most sensitive area.

Hi Ralph,

Are you using paper labels on your DVDs? If so, that is a common
cause of discs skipping or freezing as you get near the end (outer
portion). Have you tried playing the discs on a different player? If
you don't have access to a different player, go to a video store and
try the disc on a couple of different players and see if they always
freeze at the same place.

Hope this helps,

Susan

Thanks for that link. I believe between you and Will You have zeroed in on
the problem. I am trying to burn too fast. for the particular medium I am
using. I've always had good luck with TY media so I was making some
unwarranted assumptions Slowing down to 4x appears to have solved the
problem. I have to send some compilations of family get togethers to several
people so now I need to wait and see how they do on various players.
