/cry omg noooo i really thought it'd be easy to do this guess i'm gettin too old for this but-- i have the intel 975xbx2 mobo, i have 2 sata drives that i use one at a time cuz dual boot was too complicated for me, so i use them one at a time, so i have no raid set up or anything like that and i need to keep the ability to use the drives one at a time to have my other os available. that being said,
sata cd/dvd drive, windows7 recognizes and uses it, but when it comes to my sata hard drive it asks for drivers!? seriously? so i looked on the intel page and it says they aren't supporting that board and win7 driver wise. i know there is a way around this anyone know what i need to do? PLZ help i hope i didn't just waste my monies!!!!

I am having the same problem but it is with the blue ports. If you put everything in the black ports you should be ok. I have 3 hard disks and a DVD in the black ports and those are fine. The two hard disks I have in the blue ports can't be seen. And the Marvel driver provided by Intel for Win 7 basically blue screens it.

Try using the Vista drivers for the controller on that board? Vista and 7 drivers for quite a number of devices are often interchangeable.
