I assume this is a farily common setup with a farily common problem,
but I'm having trouble finding solutions online.

Basically, I have a PC set up as a PVR. It uses a combination of
firewire harddrives, USB2 capture cards, and BeyondTV 3.5 to record
cable TV. Almost everything works just fine, except for one thing: a/v
sync when using a NTSC monitor.

I'm not surprised, really: video comes out of one source (Radeon x600
with S-video out) while audio comes out of another (SoundBlaster card).
I can understand why there's a problem.

I'm not sure that it matters, but I'm primarily working with MPEG-2
files in full-screen mode. The NTSC TV is the primary monitor, the VGA
monitor is secondary. Video playback is smooth and the audio sounds
pretty good. It's just a split second behind the video.

I have tested this by connecting the TV directly to the computer, but I
get the same results as when I run it through an A/V switcher.

What is the standard way to work around this?

Thanks,
Joseph
