Hi all,
Fifty percent of the time, when I cut mpg files with tmpgenc 12a the
end file has an audio pip at the end, which it didn't before. Does
anybody know why this happens and how I can get rid of it or stop it
from happening?
I could cut the pip out and re encode the audio file, but this is going
to degrade the sound again.

Try adding a very short audio fade out - say 500ms to 750ms (or more if
needed).

Cutting at an amplitude spike results in the pop. This is not a fault of
the program. Any vertical drop in amplitude will result in this. Martin's
solution is quite correct.
