I am starting new string from the cross-border experience

How do you check the validity of a warranty before you buy.

It sounds like a lot of people don't trust cross-border sales because
some what appears to be "legitimate" stores may not be authorized
dealers. But that the begs the question - don't you face that with
brick and mortor stores. I know a couple of stores in Ottawa Canada
that are legitimate resellers but are NOT on the Sony list of stores.

I am assuming repairs shops won't repair because the Sony warranty
people say no - so how do you tell.
