dvd recorder

I want to get a dvd recorder for my tv. Can I put this same dvd in my
computer so I can edit the shows (like remove commercials) then save
back to dvd or am I going lose image quality ?

You can do it without losing ANY (or "in practical terms" any
-depending on software and method) image quality.
