Man, we got Brazil.

The English and Swede battle will be interesting as will the Argentine and Dutch matchup.

Should be a ripper of a WC!

We got Trinidad and Tobago. That's a real banana skin, as most of their squad play in the Championship, or the lower leagues. So they'll be real fired up for it.

Don't see any reason why you shouldn't qualify from your group. Croatia don't have any real talent coming through, and Japan should be brushed aside becuase the vast majority of your squad play in the Premiership. Not too many of the Japanese squad play outside their continent. You've got the advantage. Brazil should be a piece of piss too. All them fancy poncy tricks, pah!

lol!!!!

I love that confidence thing you've got going mate. Jeez, I really dont think we can hold a candle to Brazil and Japan is a real bogey team and I dont know where to begin with Croatia.

Enough of the pessimism - I'm with you Rob!

Jeez, the nation is doing backflips at just qualifying so we'll be happy with the boys providing they show some Aussie spirit and do us and themselves proud.

Mate, like you say, Trinidad and Tobago V England could be a real game to watch. Those lads can play!

Bloody awesome event and I'm looking forward to it. Gosh, brewers around the world must do a roaring trade while the Cup's on.

The last wrold cup would have been perfect viewing for you, I'd imagine, timezone wise. It was all focked for us. Matches starting at 7.30am etc. Still got to go in the pubs though. Tom will undoubtedly back me up on the merits of early doors drinking.

Gonna be great though. World Cup summers are the bastard best. Depending on what leave wifey gets from work, I'll probably be in the US for part of it. Nevermind, I'll just have to wear my England shirt all the time and decamp to the nearest sports bar and beg the barman to stick the footie on.

Yeah, the games were perfect arvo/evening viewing. Bombed most nights and of course we shout out for the motherland when they play [English roots and all]. Man, England V Germany in the last cup was a huge night for us here. I'm glad we didnt draw England - that would have been a bummer. This way, we've got two clear teams to cheer for.

I know you'll wear that Eng shirt with pride. You'll probably be surprised by the number of lads in the US when the Cup's on.

Should be a cracker!

Footie shirts abroad are a badge of honour. You simply have to wear them. I bumped into all sorts down the strip in Vegas, and had a few cold ones with a Geordie in our hotel bar discussing the season last. The bartender was puzzled by the talk, but after a swift masterclass, got rightly into it.

My team is Newcastle.

Wow!

Shearer is a God to me and the lads here.

I love our group. If we make it through we've got a real shot at the WC this time.

The only thing I didn't quite get is why the Netherlands weren't a group leader. Based on FIFA rankings that's just ludicrous. Must be a size thing or something. Not enough dutch people to warrant prime time broadcasts for all the matches, i guess.

Reply to BigMac

I'm gonna cheer for the other team......just to be different

7.30am is not early hour drinking, it's still out drinking!!! I know exactly what you mean I had a fantastic time. We would all stay in the boozer, taking bets on how many of the non drinkers would still be standing come lunch lunchtime

The World Cup RULES! So much fun at bars. Maybe not in the states but everywhere else.

I wish I could go to Germany. I have one friend from the states going already. I'll never get the time off work though.

I'm looking forward to seeing Brazil again this year.

Last year i watched 4 WC games a day, followed a team and rooted for certain teams to win and lose.....its alright. I will watch WC soccer....but i usually have better things to do.

Reply to pickxx

The only thing that kills me about soccer sometimes is that you can wait until the last 5 minutes to start watching and not miss a thing.

Reply to dhlucke

World Cup is every 4 years by the way. I've been in Europe for the 2002 and 1998 ones. It's more fun to watch it over there. Granted 2002 wasn't in Europe but it was still fun.

I watch the NFL but my sport is basketball. College basketball over pro.

You taunt the NFL but the only positions that soccer players can play is KICKERS AND PUNTERS!!! HAHAHAHA

ANY soccer player would shite himself if he saw J. Peppers comming at them full speed.

i dont mimnd watching soccer, but its importance on a global scale has more to do with the low cost and ease of learning then the sports 'greatness'

Americans will never embrace soccer just the same as people around the world will never understand why we dont like soccer.

When i worked at night, i slept in the daytime. When a courier came to my door at like 4pm and i am in my PJ's, which consists of PJ pants and no shirt, with my hair all messed up and i am groggy as hell....they would always ask "good night last night?" refering to me looking hung over and asleep at 4pm.

Better?
