AverMedia UltraTV 550 problems

All:

I have an UltraTV PCI 550 video capture/tuner card in my PC, and am
having a bit of a problem.

When I tell it to memorize channels, it will not assign the channels to
the proper channel number, eg the same channels that are assigned by
every other TV in the house. With over 80 channels, it's nearly an
impossibility to find where a given channel ends up.

Given the relative popularity of this item, I have to assume I've done
something wrong, but I'm not sure what. The coax is straight from the
wall to the jack on the card, and I tell the tuner software to memorize
channels..not sure what step I might have missed or done wrong.
