I'm making amatuer videos of our new baby. Lots of fun.

When I capture the videos, should I use the windows program as save as
WMA, or use the program that came bundled on my computer (Intervideo
WinDVD creator) to capture as MPEG2?

I'm guessing MPEG2, because it's more universal.

Thoughts, opinions?

Second question: Should I be recording in standard aspect ratio, or
widescreen? Widescreen is appealing for viewing on my widescreen
laptop. I bet in a few years all TVs will be widescreens also.

Thoughts, opinions?

Thanks!

MPEG2 is what you need to make DVDs.
OTOH, WMV is more appropriate for sharing with
others on a web page.

Richard, thank you for the info.

Any recommendations on Widescreen vs. Standard aspect ratio?

Unless you're shooting well-planned feature films, widescreen
is overrated IMHO.
