The ADS Pyro A/V Link should work. You connect your VHS tape player to the
Pyro with standard cables (either RCA (red, white, yellow), or S-video and
the red and white RCA cables for audio). From there, it connects to your
computer with firewire, and looks like a digital video camera to the
capture program.
When I capture this way from within Vegas, the only difference between
capturing a VHS tape through the Pyro and from my mini-DV camera is that
you can't control the VHS player with the software like you can control the
camera, so you start the player manually.
Works great. I haven't used it with a Mac, but some quick research on this
device (and others like it) should tell whether or not it will. And if not
this device, there *must* be others like it for the Mac world.
