Ok, I just purchased a JVC GR-D93U digital camcorder with the intention
of making a few short movies and then burning them to VCD. Although I
have never as much as touched a camcorder before I assumed that I could
download the video via the supplied USB cable using the ImageMixer
software in a 640 by 480 image size.

The above does not seem to be the case as they are all coming out in a
320 by 240 format and the capturing software (ImageMixer) does not offer
any options relating to size that I can find.

All in all, how can I capture the video in 640 by 480 format?

Cheers,

Don

Actually, you should be shooting for 720x480 resolution, standard for
digital video. I've never used ImageMixer, but in most video capture
programs you can find under "Preferences" or "Settings" or "Tools" (you
get the general drift here) where you can set the capture resolution.
Make sure your camera is attached and turned on when trying to make
setting changes. Some programs don't allow changes if they don't detect
the camera. If your camera offers firewire connections as an option, use
that instead of USB. The following link more than likely will be
useless, but just in case:

Do you know if Ulead VideoStudio software has an option for the capture
resolution?

Yes, but if you are specifying VCD instead of DVD this maybe
limiting the resolution size.

Good point. If you are using some VCD wizard, this is probably what is
creating your particular situation.
