With the remote desktop full screened, press CTRL+ALT+END. This gives you
the CTRL+ALT+DEL options on the remote machine.
Other options include the command line "shutdown" command with the -r switch
or Sysinternals' tool for shutting down a remote system.

No.
That will attempt to close whatever you have open/in focus on the remote
computer - but will not reboot it.

I've used this method to reboot the remote system: Right click on the
taskbar and select the Task Manager. From there select reboot from the
Shutdown menu. I wait a couple minutes for the remote system to reboot and I
can then log back on.

Like anything else in XP, there are usually several different ways to do the
same things...

In "Quick User Switch Mode" of XPpro on the remote Computer you have
"standby / turn off / reboot". ALT+F4 work good.

CTRL+ALT+END = Taskmanager. There you can reboot too.
