would appreciate if anyone could tell me how to hook up a DVD plyr
and play and capture video clips into my PC.

FYI, I have a Firewire port in my Dell D510 laptop.

I am told that programs like Nero Vision can do such a thing, but not
sure. Any infor on how to would be much appreciated.

If you have a dvd drive installed to your pc you can copy the files
from the dvd to the pc hard drive directly.
