Trying to track down the source of video difficulties that I've outlined in
other posts regarding vertical banding. I'm currently using the Firewire
port on my Soundblaster Audigy, how likely do you feel it is that this could
be any kind of problem?

I called Sony tech support, but it was fruitless. What a PIA. You first talk
to a "Level One support specialist" whose expertise appears to be at the
level of "where do I put the battery in the camcorder?", a "Level Two"
specialist who didn't seem to be any more knowledgeable, then to a "Product
Specialist" who didn't know the difference between DV and mjpeg video. To be
more precise, they'd never heard of mjpeg video. They certainly couldn't
even begin to explain why the DV output in passthrough mode was different
than DV coming off of a Dig8 tape.

Thanks for any input.

No, it is highly unlikely that the firewire card could be the
source of your problem.

My 2 cents.....

My son had all sorts of problems getting his iPod to work on his PC Firewire
port, which was also a Soundblaster Audigy. By installing a $15 PCI card
with 2 more Firewire ports, his problem totally disappeared.

Try moving the card to another PCI slot.
