from the Communist News Network on the race riots in aussie land???
It seems as if the Aussies are not tolerating any BS from the followers of the religion of peas.
Any country that plays full contact rugby is a force to be reckoned with.
Hey there Rich.
I responded to Mozz about this somewhere but cant find it.
Quite frankly, it was frontpage news for 2 days and is now cooled right off. Exactly how I thought it would be. It was typcially sensationalised, as is every other minor societal debacle over here, and blown right out of proportion. I noticed too that CNN's American correspondents were way too quick to announce it as a major 'societal issue within the Australian-wide community'. Absolute codswallop!
You had two minorities - Ethnic Lebanese Australians going head-to-head with fearful, ignorant and fretful Australians of caucasian heritage - and in no way do these two groups represent any of the majority of Australians who believe in a tolerant, freedom giving society.
Not to mention that the Sunday march was fuelled by adolescent power-drinkers with more brawn than sense and as is always typical of that combo the end of the event saw blokes looking for a brawl. Their actions were inspired by the few and the outrage over here since the event has been magnanimous.
On a side note, you're right about the Rugby players - just a shame that we've lost our last 7 from 8 Tests and New Zealand beat us in the Tri-nations for the first time in decades.
Thank the Sporting Gods our football [soccer] team made it to the world cup.

oh you better cry
even though we are small we give you guys a good run for money (even if we do lose lots). netball anyone?
as for the racial clashes, yeah i have been watching it over here too.
i noticed that as you move north in Australia, people become less and less tollerant to other races. similar here as you move from the cities to the farming communities.
stayed witht he nicest people ever in cairns, really good people... but racist as crap LOL. they would say comments, i would say nothing, i mean heck i was staying at their house, its rude to challenge their opinions
if those racial clashes were in Melbourne then i would be a lot more worried. sydney a little worried, and brisbane/ north not as worried that it represents the people of aussie.
i just think they handled it as well as they could have, and the government did a good job.
