I've recently built a computer and installed XP. When I
try to access the net through AOL (not sure if the program
matters), XP simply shuts down and then reboots, informing
me of a serious error. This is after AOL has dialed a
number and seems to be ready to accept data through my
modem. I haven't configured my modem in any way so maybe
there lies a problem.

Any ideas?

Confirm that the modem is confivgered for the correct port. This is the
same problem I had when my modem was set to TAPI. I changed it to Com 3 and
it solved the problem.
But noe there is no distinctive ring support .. solve one problem create
another...
Cheers Sandy
