Hi,

First, update the BIOS and chipset drivers of your laptop then install the latest ATI drivers.
Note: the BIOS and drivers should be downloaded from Comapq website and must be matched with your laptop model.

BTW, the best resolution for your laptop should be 1024X768 at 32 bit color.

What prompted you to change from XP Pro to XP Home? Did you
understand that the proprietary drivers needed by a laptop
computer are not on the Microsoft XP CDs?

I suggest that you contact Compaq and see if they will sell
you a Compaq OEM XP Home CD with the proper drivers for your
computer or just restore the factory OEM XP Pro.

You might be able to get just the missing drivers with a
free download from Compaq, you might try that first.

BTW, there is no advantage to Home over Pro. For the
average user they may be little advantage of Pro over Home
too.
