3x256Mb RAM, I see Aida reporting same results

p.s. during boot it shows that dual channel is enabled

Yes three sticks is OK. But obviously only 2 x 256MB is in dual channel
mode.

It should work better if you get a single 512mb stick to match up with the
pair of 256 sticks you have now. You will have one gig of dual channel then.
