Every time I closed certain applications I got a stop error in
cmuda.sys, which is a driver for my onboard sound card. So, I went to
Windows Update and, during the download of the updated driver, the
system crashed again with an error in sysaudio.sys. I then reboot to
find my DVD, modem and sound cards are all broken. I've got the DVD
drive back but the rest are still awol.
It appears that all the PCI slots are out of action. No matter where
I plug the modem or a sound card I get "This device cannot start (code
10)". I've tried:
1.) Taking all the cards out, resetting the PnP BIOS - No good.
2.) Trying all the cards in every slot - no good.
3.) Removing the cards from device manager and searching for new
hardware
4.) Reinstalling all the drivers (about a dozen times)
5.) Removing and reinstalling the PCI bus in device manager.
6.) Resetting the BIOS completely.
What else is there to try? It's not a driver issue as it was all
working very happily before.
