Hello,

I have no trouble reading my 3.5" floppy drive in Windows
XP. But when I try to save - write to it, the screen
displays "drive is Write protected". I made sure the tab on
the floppy is not on write protected. Any ideas? Thank you
for any help. Please email your response to mtoeman@yahoo.ca .

The drive has a mechanical or optical detector that "sees"
through the hole with the slider. Your drive is broken.
Buy a new drive. New Egg has drives of good quality at
reasonable prices.

Check your BIOS setup. Some BIOSes have option to disable write on floppy.
