does anyone know how exactly does winXP get the info for
the HDD? i mean, i don't think it has anything to do with
bios...do u by any chance know any tutorials or
documentation i could use? i am interested in HOW exactly
does winXP start the HDD and how bios actually starts the
HDD....

The Bios detects the HDD when you set it on Auto for each IDE Channel (
Primary and Secondary ). Smart Computing Mag has
some terrific special edition issues that cover this subject.
