Many issues with the AN7 mobo

In the past I have had pretty good luck with ABIT motherboards. Recently
however, I decided to upgrade and purchase a new AN7 with an AMD XP 3000+
processor and 512MB 3200 DDR RAM. I also recommended to two of my friends
that they upgrade using the same components. So far we have all experienced
problems with the motherboard:

My issues: random crashes and hangs - system would lockup in the BIOS -
replaced RAM with no improvement. Eventually sent the board back to ABIT.

Friend A: system would reboot whenever a CD was placed in either his DVD
burner or CD ROM - he also had a missing CMOS jumper.

Friend B: system would boot with an alarm siren beep code.

Are there any good reliability specs on the AN7 or is all the data just
anecdotal?

I tried an AN7 for a while...the only way I could get it stable was with
'CPU Interface' disabled (in bios soft-menu)...I ended up going back to my
trusty NF7-S.

and aa radeon 9700 pro.
got a better overclock than i did with my nf7-s v2. But i guess i got

Thanks. I was wondering what the word on the street was regarding the AN7.
In my case I'm not looking to overclock but rather a good performing rock
solid machine - and it appears the AN7 isn't it...

Other comments out there????

"Friend B: system would boot with an alarm siren beep code"

I think he might have his cpu fan plugged into the wrong spot.
I made a similar error today, plugged in on left side of cpu, when the
actual cpu fan plug is just to the right of the cpu.
It was hidden after I attached the heatsink, after looking at the diagrams
again, and connecting to the proper plug, all was quiet
