Time to sell my Ipaq.
Check this out...

One of these I want!
Archived from groups: microsoft.public.pocketpc (More info?)
This is nothing new... it is around for 2 years I think. It was vaporware
but they finally made it to enter the market. It looks really nice but 3
hours of continous use of mobile device is not enough. I can not imagine
running and looking where to plug my charger few times a day. Now I know
that my Pocket PC will last for about 8 hours which is fine.
The time for such mobile PC's has yet to come.

Hi,
Am not being funny but everyone says they want one, is this some kind of
United Nations-sponsored program giving away PDA maybe because of their
success over the last 50 years or something, if so which web site do I need
to go to register or applyl to get a free PDA?
Thanks in advance.
Ok ok calm down, I was just joking there, DOH!!!!.

Hope you have about 5 or 6 of them to sell. It's a tiny laptop/tablet and
priced like one. Assuming it gets produced this time.

Having moved to pda from an HP100LX palmtop I can safely say -- a
palmtop computer IS TOO BIG I don't care how much computing power it
has. It just can't be taken everywhere like a pda can -- I tried every
way possible to carry the HP -- shoulder case, belt case, fanny pack.
It just doesn't work for a man especially in the south with light casual
clothing. It gets left behind more and more -- and always when it's
needed. Nice gadget but I'll stick to a pda that can be on me at all
times.

Why? Too big for a pocket, too small to really run a full-blown Windows
in any meaningful manner, too short battery life. If you want WinXP,
take a Tablet or a Notebook, for Pete's sake. Having burned my fingers
on a running Flip-whatever (Paul Allen's thingy), I have to say I
simply don't get it.

impressive but... much too lumpy to put in your pocket.
At a few stages you see a man putting it in his breast pocket of
his jacket. That will result in a big uncomfortabel and ugly lump
in your jacket when you're a man (like having a big square tit)
and a pressed real breast if you're a woman. And a deformed
jacket after a few days with a torn out pocket.
Transport when not using stays a major problem, and this machine
doesn't solve it.
It uses a 20 GB harddisk. Harddisks are, in spite of many
improvements, still mechanical vulnerable items. They'd better
use solid state memorycards for such systems, much more rigid and
worry-free in such applyances. Just be bumped onto something hard
in a full train during rush-hour and.... bye bye data!!
It is getting into the good direction, but it still is not there
yet.
No, I won't be buying one of these. I'll stick to my PDA and wait
till something comes out to my liking.

With a price of $2000 and a battery life of around 3 hours, I would be
carefull when calling it a real product.
Maybe it is not vaporware, but with this data it will be very difficult to
compete in the market.

Well, you get some 'grins' even in Texas (at the pack not the name) --
although a lot fewer after concealed handgun carry went into effect (is
that a pda or a Glock in your fanny?)!!!
AFAIK that is the official name in the US. What is that type of bag
called in the UK or is it just not used at all?

I wouldn't be asking that in England or Australia either. I think Bum Pack
is the appropriate term. Fanny, the US colloquial for the rear, is used for
the other side of the female, much as the US term that also refers to a
kitty. There was a cute episode on Letterman or Leno (I forget) where Steve
Erwin (Crocodile Hunter) was on. The host mentioned a fanny pack and Steve's
mouth dropped and eyes got big and he said " Crikey, you can say that on
American TV?" He then, delicately as possible, explained the meaning.
Gosh, I love the internationalness of the internet.
