Backing my system up: ERROR

Im not to sure where i am suppose to post this, so I will do it here. When i tried backing up my system, I got the fallowing message:

"Windows Backup failed while trying to read from the shadow copy of one of the volumes being backed up. Please check in the event logs for any relevant errors."

I got this message 2 out of 2 tries.

More info:

I was trying to back up my system to a drive( on the same HD as my OS: but partioned to a different drive letter), which might not have enough to fit the complete back up?

should i locate the file to my C: drive and try it again?

Any suggestion?

Thank you

More about backing system error
  1. some help please?
  2. You can't backup the system to the same hardrive as the system resides on. System backup, backs up all partitions on a single drive and a second independant drive is required.
You can backup files and settings using Windows Easy Transfer Wizard to the second partition.
A systems backup will require you to purchase a second drive, either internal or an external usb drive.
