Has anyone else got this up and running? I helped setup one the last couple
of days and here is what we ran into.

1, The Q-OTES NB cooling solution uses a heat pipe and does not have a fan.
It uses flow from case ventilation. During setup (no side cover) it gets
HOT. We used a small office fan to cool while we setup.

2. Win XP Pro random BSOD when first started up. Patches seemed to have
helped. CPU temp is in low 50's C idle.
Processor is the Intel LGA 775 Pentium 4 650 3.4 GHz CPU with a Thermal
Take Big Typhoon cooler. (It is huge, on the case it was installed in it
comes to about 5/8" from the side panel it will be modded to have a duct for
outside air..) Temps sound right to me everyone else?

After everything was setup we had some random BSOD and reboots. Patches
seemed to have fixed it but... Time will tell. Anyway hope this helps and if
you have it running let me know what temps you have and any other strange
behavior

Hi Als,

I built a system with this mobo and 2GB of ram, Its supposed to be DDR667, but I encountered boot problem and intermittent reboot like what you are talking about. what I did was to go into the bios set the DDR Clock at a somewhat lower frequency of operation. This proved to solve all my troubles and It run very stable now, the performance loss is not noticeable anyway

More Information

I run an NI8 with an Intel 805 overclocked to 3.6Ghz with DDR2-800 running at 780 (I couldn't get the last 20 Mhz out of it).

My temps while writing this are 44 CPU, 37 Case and 53 PWM. I have had issues with the PWM overheating when I overclock the CPU higher. It draws a lot more current from the power regulators when you overclock. the OTES does get warm but I have a good case with a couple of 120mm fans in it. I also use a Zalman heasink... which helps.

But as for your problem.... well have you run memtest86 on the machine? Those BSOD's could be memory errors. it might also be worth checking those memory voltages too. They'll probably need to be about 1.9 - 2.1v. I have found the NI8 to be a tough board to run happily... but I'm pleased with it now.

I hope the info helps.
