Can anyone help? Recently it's taking longer and longer
to defrag my hard drive - it keeps stopping and going
right back to the beginning again. Lately it tells me
there are errors on my disk, but when I tried to use
scandisk to correct these it does the same as Defrag and
just keeps restarting. After 10 tries a message pops
up "Windows or another program has been writing to this
drive." The thing is I don't have another program
running. How can I find out which program is running, and
how can I resolve my problem if I can't trace the program?

There is no SCANdisk on XP. You used CHKDSK /f perhaps?

In Windows Explorer, right-click the c:\ drive. Click PROPERTIS|TOOLS tab
and in the error checking box, click CHECK NOW. Then reboot.
