Hi gang,

It's been a long time since I played CS, and I have the retail CD
copy. I installed it but it's only version 1.000 or whatever. I had
updated before and played on Steam, meaning I had 1.6. I think
originally I'd updated to 1.5, and then when I first downloaded Steam
a few months ago, it may have included the update requirements for
1.6? Is this right? I'm really not sure.

Could someone please give me the right steps to upgrade to CS 1.6?

I do have Steam installed now.

What's the Steam install w/ the 1.6 cache? Is this what I need?

Thanks.

Yes the steam install with 1.6 cache would have been what you need. But as you
have already installed steam, just click on browse games and then register a
product I already own and give it your CS CD Key and it should start downloading
1.6 automatically. If it doesn't click play games and double click counter
strike and it will then force a download.

Hey, thank you.
Well, it's just strange... steam just did some sort of a rather quick
update, and that must've done some bare-bones requirement..... ?

I can play fine though, and it does say 1.6 at the start of an
internet game.
