I have recently bought a 128Mb usb memory stick to
transfer data between my personnal and works laptops. Both
are running Windows 2000 and the set-up on both looks the
same to me, but quite obviously there must be something
different. Anyone have any ideas??

Check to see if you have all the Win2K updates from MS. Rt click on
MyComputer>Select Prop>Hardware>Device Manager>USB Controllers. See if
there's any yellow marks. If yes reinstall the
USB drivers.

No yellow marks against either the host controller or the
usb hub, device manager says that both are working
correctly. Re-installed the drivers anyway with no change.
Have also got the latest windows update from microsoft and
installed that with no change. The usb port is part of the
docking station rather than the pc itself(if that makes
any difference). Begining to think that the port itself is
just not working.
