When I try to use my dvd/cdrw to either play a dvd, burn
a cd, or just read the contents of a cd it show that it's
waited for the drive to become available. Any help?

Steven, try rt clicking MyComputer>select Properties>Hardware>Device
Manager>Dvd/Cdrom Drives.
Rt click on yours and choose Uninstall. Restart and let XP reinstall it.

HI,

Looks like a device driver problem. Have you tried to load drivers provided
by manufacturer. Or check if you have multiple device drivers loaded for
the dvd/cdrw.

You can check the same in device manager. If you have loaded multiple
drivers remove all the drivers loaded for dvd/cdrw and restart the system,
system will detect the device again and should work fine.
