"disc read error" with win xp?

Everytime I boot up my Compaq presario I get a "Disc read
error" --
"press cntrl-alt-del to restart."

It doesn't restart, nor does it work. How I can fix it?

Joe, you may have a hard drive failure. But check here for alot of info
